While offering beautiful vistas from moderate uphill sections, the trails require no rocky clambering and are perfect for spotting local sheep, cattle, and wild deer.
The Quick Circular Walk
This is a brief 20-minute circular route that leads you through deep-valleyed lanes and across open fields. The well-maintained footpaths make it an ideal choice if you just want to stretch your legs briefly before returning to the village. This gentle trail captures the local landscape perfectly, with all paths starting and ending right in the heart of Hinton St George.
The Ancient Oak & Orchard Circular Walk
This route is an extension of the short circular walk, leading you past the village's famous ancient oak tree. The path crosses a stream that is perfect for four-legged friends to cool off in on a hot day. Like all our local trails, it is well-maintained and signposted, beginning and ending in the heart of the village
The Copper Beach Tree Route
One of the village's circular footpaths leads you past the ancient oak tree and directly to the impressive Copper Beech Tree. This gentle route follows well-maintained, signposted trails through the local countryside without any rocky terrain. Like all trails in the area, this walk conveniently begins and ends in the centre of the village
Hinton to Merriot Feed Station Cafe Circular
This is a longer yet fairly flat rural trail along footpaths that brings you Feed Station Cafe in Merriot. It is a renowned stop on the Somerset Cycle Route and is famous for is fresh sandwiches and home made cakes. Like all trails in the area, this walk conveniently begins and ends in the centre of the village
